When I joined the FSA two years ago we had 250 founding members. Essentially, we have doubled our number each year. The national Forest School conference, held last weekend and attended by both members and non-members, shows just how united our community is around our core beliefs and values. The FSA offers both a platform from which the Forest School community can communicate with/influence policy makers AND a canopy under which members can communicate with and support each other. Over the next 12 months the directors have agreed to focus on supporting the establishment of local groups, developing CPD opportunities, developing professional guidance notes for members, and developing a process for trainer endorsement. We are still very new but we have come a long way in a short amount of time. I believe that we are starting to prove ourselves. The more members we have the stronger we will be and the quicker we can establish core member benefits. If you have ever considered joining the FSA then I urge you to do so. It is a member led organisation and the possibilities are very exciting.
