Job description: We are looking for 2 positions, a forest school leader and a forest school assistant. Candidates will be working with children from age 3+. We run both a pre-school and a holiday club from the wood directly opposite our setting which also boasts an amazing garden and yurt. Job description is as follows:

  1. To plan, prepare and participate in a range of outdoor activities that promote each child’s physical, intellectual and emotional needs to enable each child to reach their full potential in line with EYFS requirements and covering all areas of learning
  2. To lead the forest school (Forest School Leader Only)
  3. To implement activities which encourage linguistic and social interaction between children and their carers
  4. To be a key worker for a group of children by observing, monitoring and recording each individual’s development and to record and observe any child who is not a key child
  5. To support the forest school practitioners in the implementation and evaluation of children’s planning and progress and to be responsible for all paperwork and progress reports(Forest School Leader Only)
  6. To implement activities which encourage linguistic and social interaction between children and their carers
  7. To be a key worker for a group
  8. To liaise with any key workers who may not work in forest school to ensure that all learning experiences are shared and that observations are explained to enable key workers to link to areas of learning and send on tapestry.
  9. To attend staff training, meetings, parents evenings and open days as required
  10. To communicate with parents/carers about the day to day needs of the children by fostering parental involvement and encouraging positive parenting skills
  11. To help children acquire self-help skills including dressing, feeding, toilet training and an awareness of personal hygiene
  12. To help ensure that the forest school meets safety and hygiene requirements and to report any issues to a senior member of staff
  13. To be aware of and comply with All Munchkins policies and procedures including safeguarding, child protection, confidentiality and other relevant nursery policies
  14. To keep up to date with developments in childcare and parent education through regular training as appropriate
  15. To maintain records and documentation that complies with statutory requirements, and to support the nursery practitioners with the completion of such documents
  16. Conduct staff one to ones and appraisals(Forest School Leader Only)
  17. To implement activities which encourage linguistic and social interaction between children and their carers
  18. To be a key worker for a group
  19. Additional hours may be required to maintain ratios
  20. To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as required from time to time.

Person specification: Must hold level 3 Forest school leadership and a relevant level 3 early years qualification. We are looking for outgoing, friendly individuals who love the outdoors and children and can work under their own steam with enthusiasm.
