Job description: Rangers Kindergarten Natural Play and Learning is a new Early Years and Education setting based in Bethnal Green for children aged 18 months – 7 years. We believe that early childhood is magical and we offer gentle, respectful care in a natural and nourishing environment. Our site sits in a forested corner of Bethnal Green Gardens where we will offer nature play and seasonal forest school activities. We believe that outdoor learning allows children the space to grow, breathe and shine. We are developing a unique approach, blending the best bits of Forest School, Steiner Waldorf, Reggio Emilia and Pikler philosophies.

We are looking for a very special person to join with us on this exciting adventure.

Job description

  • To help plan, prepare and participate in a range of outdoor and indoor activities that promote each child’s physical, intellectual and emotional needs to enable each child to reach their full potential in line with EYFS requirements and covering all areas of learning
  • To implement activities which encourage linguistic and social interaction between children and their carers
  • To be a key worker for a group of children by observing, monitoring and recording each individual’s development and to record and observe any child who is not a key child
  • To support the teachers in the implementation and evaluation of children’s planning and progress
  • To attend staff training, meetings, parents evenings and open days as required
  • To communicate with parents/carers about the day to day needs of the children by fostering parental involvement and encouraging positive parenting skills
  • To help children acquire self-help skills including dressing, feeding, toilet training and an awareness of personal hygiene
  • To help ensure that the kindergarten meets safety and hygiene requirements and to report any issues to a senior member of staff
  • To be aware of and comply with all policies and procedures including safeguarding, child protection, confidentiality and other relevant nursery policies
  • Hours: 8am – 4.30pm (additional hours 4.30-6pm available in the Summer months)

Person specification : Person specification:

  • Minimum relevant Level 2 or 3 childcare qualification
  • Great passion for learning about child development
  • Good communication skills and able to work effectively in a team
  • A sense of humour, common sense and a positive attitude.
  • Desire to learn about alternative educational practices, including Waldorf Steiner, Forest School, the Reggio Emilia Approach and Pikler (no experience necessary)
  • Drive and ambition to grow with us and develop your own practice
  • A love of outdoor learning and enthusiasm for working outdoors whatever the weather
