Position being advertised (Job title): Forest School Assistant

Salary (per week, month, year OR negotiable, not applicable): £10 per hour (for every hour on site)

Job description: We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic individuals with good organisational and communication skills and a willingness to develop their practice.

Job responsibilities:

•     To develop good relationships with the children and their teachers, parents and carers.

•     To assist in the delivery of a range of forest learning activities to a variety of client groups.

•     To assist in the delivery of other types of less formal learning activities: family events or woodland birthday parties.

•     Actively seek to improve our service and the quality of our provision.

•     To support the development of additional services, such as, after school and  holiday clubs and family events.

•     To ensure that both Forest School sites are managed in accordance with guidelines and take responsibility for maintenance.

•     To ensure all tools and equipment are put away and stored in good condition.

Person specification : We are looking for self-motivated and caring people with a love for and knowledge of the outdoors (all weathers) to join our friendly team. This is mostly a term time position commencing on 18th September 2014.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work at both our Forest School sites in Ilsington, South Devon and Haldon Forest Park, near Exeter. We require successful candidates to work every Thursday afternoon during term time, the work may expand to other weekdays and weekend days depending on demand. The duration of each session is five hours and two hours after October half term.

Desirable qualifications: Level 3 Forest school qualification, First aid certificate, Public liability insurance, Child care, play work or similar qualification.  However, if the candidate does not hold these qualifications but good experience, we would like to hear from them!
