Job description: Plan, prepare and deliver purposeful and productive activities for children.
Be prepared to innovate and devise imaginatively varied ways of teaching the forest school experience to children.
Encourage children and show enthusiasm for their subject indoors and outside and in the forest.
Record children’s development and progress.
Demonstrate an awareness of Assessment for Characteristics of Effective Learning and identify the learning of all children, as appropriate.
Select and use a range of different resources and teaching styles, appropriate to the forest school experience.
Ensure that you are familiar with the The Woodland Nursery ’s health and safety guidance and be mindful of their own health and safety and that of the children.
Promote positive Management of Behaviour in the Nursery environment, establish routines and boundaries to ensure the safety and good behaviour of the children.
Supervising the children at all times.
Act on occurrences as they happen to effectively close them down on behalf of the Nursery Manager.
To be a positive role model to all staff and conduct yourselves in an appropriate professional manner at all times.
To positively support change across the setting Proactively look for opportunities to support the Nursery in day to day activities Where agreed, you will contribute to staff meetings To document appropriate communications to staff.
Support the Manager in developing and maintaining successful and professional relationships with parents.
Attend networking/cluster events or equivalent where appropriate Support and foster the aims of the The Woodland Nursery .
Make themselves familiar with the contents of the Staff Handbook, the The Woodland Nursery ’s aims and policies and endeavour to follow these closely.
Carry out such duties, including cover for absent colleagues Contribute imaginatively to the curricular and the forest school programme of the The Woodland Nursery as required by the Nursery Manager.
Attend staff meetings, parents’ evenings and similar important functions both in and out of normal The Woodland Nursery hours, and participate in the main Open Day for existing and prospective parents and children.
Continue with your professional development and attend any relevant training as required.
Take part in the The Woodland Nursery ’s performance management scheme and appraisal on an annual basis.

All staff have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children for whom they are responsible or with whom they come into contact and to adhere to and ensure compliance with the The Woodland Nursery’s Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the The Woodland Nursery they must report any concerns to the Nursery Manager and or the Child Protection Officer immediately Liaise with Manager on a day to day basis.

Qualifications & Experience:
The Manager will have a NVQ level 3 in Childcare & Education or/and at least 2 years qualifying experience, of which 1 year preferably having involved managing staff. A management qualification is also desirable. Forest School level 3 is required and a desire to progress further with a love of the outdoors.
