Outdoor play / Forest school  assistant

Job description:

Volunteer shall help with running of outdoor play / nature craft / forest school / horticultural sessions at Brayards Estate, Peckham, SE15 2BZ.

Sessions run weekly on Saturday afternoons normally 2pm to 5pm at Brayards Estate and Kirkwood Nature Reserve. In bad weather some sessions are run in Brayards Estate community hall.

Volunteer role is mainly to assistant tutor/s running Saturday sessions.  Volunteers will be given opportunities to develop and run their own activities for the estate children.

Previously volunteers have developed and run sessions including nature photography, film making, drawing & painting sessions.

These activities are aimed at children 3 to 12 years old and we also encourage parents to come along.

Person specification:

In order to work with vulnerable people and children the volunteer will be asked to take a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

Have knowledge or experience of horticulture, environmental education or forest school.

Ideally volunteer shall live in London and have knowledge or experience of working with children.

Any other information:

Additional activities may also be scheduled during school holidays.

Volunteers will have the opportunity of helping on other areas of the Brayards Estate TRA work they are interested in, to gain work experience and skills.

Brayards Estate TRA volunteers are continually developing funding proposals to run a wide range of community activities and projects. New volunteers working with Brayards Estate TRA are welcome to help develop future community projects that benefit the estate.

Volunteers shall learn from experienced forest school and environmental education professionals regarding how to manage community projects and practical forest school / children nature session.

Volunteers can claim London off peak travel expenses
