Person specification: Little Birds Forest Nursery is an exciting new outdoor nursery, with the natural environment acting as the ‘third teacher’.
We are a Reggio inspired setting, with forest school and the Scandinavian ‘Skogsmulle’ approach at our centre.
We are based in Bury, West Sussex, at the foot of the South Downs. The nursery is a small setting, we have a beautiful Victorian School House as our base, and the school grounds, farmland, woodlands and our local beaches to explore, play and learn in.
We are at the beginning of an exciting journey and are opening our doors in Spring/Summer 2018 and we are looking to form a very special team.
We are looking for a Nursery Manager, who will help to sculpt and develop our team and our nursery, working with the staff, parents, the child, our outdoor sites and environment to help deliver a magical early years’ experience.
We are also looking for inspirational, qualified and creative educators who are passionate about being outdoors and are deeply aware of children’s potential.
In these exciting roles, you\’ll work outside for most of the day, every day of the week,all year round, in the woodlands, in the grounds and on the beach with our children supporting them every day in their play, learning and development. You must be passionate about connecting children with nature and love the outdoors!
Salary will be competitive, dependent upon experience, with 28 days holiday inclusive of public holidays.
Excellent CPD opportunities are offered, with both in house and external providers, and study trips to Sweden and Italy.
Personal and practice reflection is encouraged and daily allocated time is offered for this, as well as support to develop within personal goals and development.
We are looking for a Nursery Manager with minimum Level 3 Early Years Education qualification or QTS, with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in an Early Years Setting, and ideally a Forest School Level 3 qualification.
Educators – Level 3 Early Years Education qualification or QTS, ideally with a Forest School Level 3 qualification, or a background in Visual Arts.
