In this tendering process, the FC is advertising nine business opportunities for learning provision at main visitor sites across the country:

  1. Hamsterley Forest – County Durham
  2. Dalby Forest – North Yorkshire
  3. Chambers Farm Wood – Lincolnshire
  4. Hicks Lodge – Leicestershire
  5. Dean Forest Park – Gloucestershire
  6. Haldon Forest Park – Devon
  7. Cardinham Forest – Cornwall
  8. West Walk – Hampshire
  9. Bedgebury Pinetum and Forest – Kent

These business opportunities will require providers who are skilled environmental educators. They may be sole traders, or working with a partner, or accredited to a national organisation. The providers may have teaching or outdoor learning qualifications, and will have varying degrees of experience. They must be keen to grow their business to reach as many learners as possible. They will be expected to deliver FC learning messages (about how the public forest estate is managed sustainably for timber, people and wildlife) and will be given advice and help with this where needed.

The FC is inviting interested parties to complete a Pre Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ), the purpose of which is to help us decide which bidders to short-list to the Invitation to Tender (ITT) phase.

Providers who are invited to tender, will show that they are able to lead some or all of the following activities at one or more of the above sites:

  • curriculum-linked activities for pre-schools, primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities
  • relevant activities for other groups for example Scout and Guide badges, John Muir Award
  • Forest School (please note – if you intend to lead Forest School, you must hold a level 3 FS qualification)
  • events for families, children and adults
  • birthday parties
  • training events in outdoor and environmental learning training for teachers / leaders

To request a copy of the PQQ and associated documentation, please email learning.england@forestry.gsi.gov.uk and it will be sent as soon as it is available.
