This week, the New Common Inspection Framework from OFSTED was launched and will be implemented this September.  It covers four key areas;

  • Effectiveness of leadership and management
  • Quality of teaching, learning and assessment
  • Personal development, behaviour and welfare
  • Outcomes for children and learners

The obvious area that Forest School can support is Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare – so continue banging the Forest School drum on how it supports schools in at least one of the 4 key areas for OFSTED inspections – and of course if you think deeply about this, in terms of dispositions for learning, it supports at least two of the others.

For more information see a short document outlining the key changes to the OFSTED Framework – www.gov.uk
