Job description: This position is for a freelance forest school leader to facilitate play and learning in a new forest school on our beautiful country estate on the outskirts of Glasgow, near Blanefield. There are 50 acres of land to explore which includes woodland, meadow, parkland and pond. Sessions will be run for groups of children to include preschoolers, school age children, home educated children and possibly school/ youth groups.
As well as working with children from the local community, we\’ll also be seeking to partner with local authorities, schools and not for profit organisations to enable children from all backgrounds to benefit from the wonderful natural environment.
We are in a picturesque location with an abundance of wildlife including deer, pheasants, rabbits, hare, frogs and the occasional bird of prey. The location is unique and the estate has a long history of offering refuge, fresh air and a taste of country life to Glasgow\’s city dwellers. As the new owners we would like to embrace the ethos and seek to work in partnership with our neighbours, an off grid community and model of sustainability,
Sessions will be largely child led and as such will offer you endless opportunity to utilise your training, skills, experience and imagination. It will be your job to share the wonder and magic of the natural environment with our young learners, allowing them to grow in both knowledge and confidence as they explore.
Whilst this position is offered on a freelance basis, there is a possibility it could be a full time, live in position for the right candidate, perhaps seeking to relocate.
Person specification: The successful candidate will be a fully qualified level 3 Forest School Leader with up to date first aid qualifications and DBS. We are seeking someone energetic, passionate and full of creative ideas to bring to life the magic of the outdoors for our learners. Someone who can nurture the little ones and well as motivate and inspire older children with challenging activities, a true leader.
