Forest School Educator

Job description:

  • Share responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Forest Schools sessions.
  • Monitor the weather prior to every session and ensure that children are adequately protected from the elements, including finding alternatives to the woodland on days of high winds.
  • To drive the minibus to and from forest school sessions in line with company policy, ensuring that the fuel and windscreen wash are kept at a maintained level for functioning.
  • To share responsibility for keeping the Forest School Risk Assessments file up-to-date at all times.
  • The effective supervision of any visitors to the forest school sessions.
  • Ensure that the highest standards of safety, security, hygiene, cleanliness (and tidiness in the forest school changing area) are operated at all times
  • Where forest school experiences are transferred to the nursery (indoors or garden), to ensure the safety and welfare of the children.
  • Organise information, footage and attend parent\’s evenings/ meetings and parent visit days, as required.
  • To ensure that all equipment is stored away correctly at the end of every session and topped up as required; phones and cameras placed on charge, fire box replenished etc.
  • At the end of every week (or more frequently if required), all suits and bags are washed and hung to dry over the weekend ready for Monday morning.
  • To respond to any parental concerns raised, in conjunction with the Forest School Lead

Any other information: A full driving licence is required for this position with a D1 category validated on the back.
