Job description: Bridge Training and Development is an independent secondary school catering for young people with a range of needs including MLD, ASD and emotional needs.  Graded as Outstanding by Ofsted in June 2017, we pride ourselves in our hands-on and therapeutic curriculum which is tailored to individual needs and interests.

At the foot of the Malvern Hills, our 5 acre site has an animal smallholding and a growing area, and we are also developing a wildlife area.  We are looking for a full time tutor who can lead the environmental, horticultural and animal husbandry aspects of the curriculum.  They can expect to work with groups of 3-4 young people.  We plan to have a new outdoor teaching space with wood burner, and expect most of the activities to be delivered outside.  We expect the role to include further development of the site, planning and delivering a range of new projects.

We are ideally looking for someone with Forest School, horticultural or animal care training and/or experience.  Good practical ability is essential as there will be need for maintaining the outdoor areas and developing new projects alongside the students.

Person specification: You will need to have a positive approach to dealing with difficult situations and it is essential that you have experience and understanding of young people with a range of disorders such as autism, separation anxiety, ADHD, ODD, moderate learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties.  A good sense of humour is essential.  Computer literacy is also an aspect of this roll as you will be expected to write reports and keep in-house records.

Flexibility and reliability are essential qualities. You need to be a team player, encouraging and supporting the wider team and facilitating the sharing of best practice. Industry/practical experience are essential, as are a commitment to health and safety and safe working practices.

Any other information: Candidates will require to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.  Drivers licence essential.
