Job description: Tree House Learning is a small, not for profit, Forest School based in Richmond upon Thames. Our organisation is in need of a qualified, motivated, passionate Level 3 Forest School leader to join our team. The position starts as part time and will grow as our organisation does.  The position requires part time availability year round and the successful candidate will be required to work part time during term time, school holidays and the occasional Saturday or Sunday.  The position involves running weekly sessions for schools and for private individuals in the Home Ed community as well as nursery aged children during term time and full day workshops for a range of ages during the school holidays.  We also run birthday parties on the weekends and require that all leaders commit to those according to their availability to a maximum of one per month but certainly more if they choose to.

Person specification: The ideal candidate will be Level 3 qualified, have experience leading Forest School sessions and be comfortable working with children with SEN. Ideally they will have experience with multicultural, multilingual and SEN children and will understand the Forest School ethos intimately.  They will be confident working with children aged 3 – 12.  They should have an understanding of the national curriculum as we frequently work with schools and they should be able to adapt their planning to the school/session/children in their group/weather.

We are looking for someone passionate about the Forest School concept who will be excited to set up and plan programs for clients.  They will be creative, adaptable and self motivated as well as being punctual and dependable.  They should have great energy and report with children being warm and caring as well as maintaining firm boundaries for safety.  They must be able to work well with a team and communicate effectively with the assistants and other adults in their sessions and have a positive report with the parents of the children attending the sessions.

Ideally the successful candidate will hold a driving licence and own a car as our sessions are held at different locations.  They will need a Forest School kit of equipment that they will be responsible for maintaining and risk assessing on a regular basis.

The successful candidate must:

  • be a qualified Level 3 Forest School leader
  • hold a current paediatric first aid certification
  • have a clear up to date DBS check.
  • provide two references that can attest to your suitability to work with children in this capacity

Any other information: Wage: £60 per half day or £120 per full day

5 weeks per year in which no sessions are scheduled

Freelance work so a level of flexibility is required
