SALARY SCALE: Band 3, Pt 17 (£17,772) to Pt 21 (£20,138) (pro rata)

CONTRACT TERM: Permanent

CONTRACT TYPE:  17 hrs/ wk term time  (2.45pm to 5.45pm Monday to Thursday and 1.00pm to 6.00pm Friday)

25 hrs/ wk school holidays (10.00am to 3.00pm)

Wellfield Infant and Nursery School is a highly inclusive and successful two form entry infant school with a 52 part time place Nursery and a Small Specialist Class for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Social and Communication Difficulties. Due to the previous post holder pursuing a teaching career,  the school is seeking a Forest School Leader to join it’s friendly “Wishing Well” extended schools team to work in the after school provision and holiday club. The club provides for pupils aged 3 to 11 years from both Wellfield Infant and Nursery School and Wellfield Junior School. The two schools share a large and attractive site with plenty of outdoor space. This includes a large field, a newly established allotment and a small enclosed wooded area.  In addition to the hours in the after school club during term time and the holiday club,  the role will also involve delivering Forest School activities during school time on a Friday afternoon with the infant school classes.

The role will involve:

  • Working in close partnership with the club manager and the rest of the team
  • Planning for and providing a range of outdoor activities
  • Completing risk assessments related to planned activities
  • Supporting the rest of the club team with ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Communicating with parents/carers
  • Maintaining good relationships with the school

The successful applicant will:

  • Be competent in using IT to support play and club administration
  • Have a Level 3 Forest School Programme Leadership Certificate (or at least Level 2 working towards Level 3)
  • Experience of working with and planning outdoor activities for children aged 3 to 11 years and the ability to work on own initiative
  • Have an understanding of Safeguarding children
  • Hold a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate, (or be willing to undertake the training)
  • Hold a Food Hygiene Certificate (or be willing to undertake the training)
