Job description: The Forest School at Compton Verney is an important part of our school and public programme, and has been developed to include a hire facet in the form of birthday parties. As a Forest School Support Volunteer you will play a crucial role in supporting the Forest School Leader in the preparation and delivery of these activities. The role will be reactive to the needs of the session being run on the day and the support required by the Forest School Leader but will include:

  • Assist in preparing resources for school, family or party sessions
  • Assist in setting up the Forest School site for school, family or party sessions
  • Assist the Forest School Leader in running activities
  • Supervise campfire and ensure area is safe throughout session
  • Help clear-up the Forest School site after for school, drop-in or party sessions
  • Assist with site maintenance

In addition, you will be eager to learn and develop your knowledge of Compton Verney and its exhibitions, collections, history and grounds.

This role is  required to support drop-in family activities weekly early years sessions, school visits and birthday parties and may include some weekend working

Travel expenses paid up to £11 per day

Person specification: It would be useful for the person in this role to have the following:

Work experience in a wildlife/rural working environment Previous experience of working in the education sector, museum or gallery Commitment to working with teachers, artists, gallery educators, young people and families Skills in building effective relationships An open interpersonal style Physically able Effective team worker Interest in and knowledge of art and/or wildlife and being in the great outdoors Good listening skills Behaviours and characteristics Tact and diplomacy Clear communicator Versatile and flexible Proactive attitude and a willingness to contribute within a busy team
